September Updates - And NEW Petition

THANK YOU!

First and foremost, a special “Thank You” to each of you for your continued support to STOP the proposed landfill from making its home in Cumberland County. We would not be as effective as we are without your support – your time, knowledge, or $$ or all three. Kudos to you for supporting the fundraising group and their efforts to collect funds. These efforts are paying off and people have been generous making donations. CCLA was able to pay the legal costs associated with the Appeal filing, and still leave money in the operating account.

PETITION

The petition circulated starting in 2018, was closed out in July and presented to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) with a copy hand delivered to each Board member. CCLA is now in the process of circulating a NEW petition and asking for your show of support by signing it. This one contains a column for Cumberland County residents to indicate their district. It is important for us to do this, so when the time is right, we can present up-to-date information to DEQ. The petition is available in hard copy and in electronic copy. The electronic version is under the “Take Action” on this website. If you prefer a hard copy, it is included in this writing. This form gives you the opportunity to take it and ask your family, neighbors, friends to sign. Download here.

OCTOBER 2025 CCLA MEETING

This meeting is scheduled for Sunday, October 12 th , at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland County Community Center (Luther P Jackson School, 71 Community Drive, Cumberland, VA. Our guest speaker is Maurice Donikin, an environmental, health and safety professional. You may ask what he does – come out the meeting and find out because his occupation includes things like handling toxic waste, etc. Believe you may find it very interesting what he will share with us.
