HOT NEWS

1. The agenda for the May 13th Regular Meeting of the Board of Supervisors includes the topic of Green Ridge.

The purpose of this agenda item is to set the date for the Public Hearing by the Board on the Green Ridge proposed project. Board meeting time is 7 p.m. at the Courthouse. There is a joint workshop on May 12, 2025, between the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Luther P Jackson Adult Education Center, 21 Gold Lane, Cumberland, VA 23040. 2. Green Ridge submitted new documents related to their Part B application on the DEQ website.

These documents are located at https://www.deq.virginia.gov/topics-of-interest/green-ridge-landfill. Please note these documents were submitted to DEQ right around the same time of the Planning Commission Public Hearing where the Commissioners voted against the new conditional use permit for Green Ridge.

3. June 8, 2025, is the date for our next CCLA Community Townhall meeting.

More information will be shared as more information becomes available.

4. May 17, 2025, CCLA will participate at the Graceland Baptist Church

Spring Yard Sale. The location is 975 Dorset Road, Powhatan, VA and the time is from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. If you would like to volunteer to help and/or donate, please email info@cclava.com.

5. As of this writing, we have no updates to share about the Court filing.

6. Continue to write letters to the editor of papers, federal, state, and local officials.

Keep our concerns with the proposed landfill in front of them.

a home in Cumberland County.
